OK, I had the same problem so went looking on the internet for a solution. First of all you have to know that AVID sold AVID Studio to Corel years ago. I still use AVID Studio as it meets my needs and I really don't have a need for or the money for Pinnacle Studio 19.

Having said this, here is the solution I applied that worked for me. My Computer is a Dell M6500 I7 laptop with Windows 10 64bit. If you do not have the CCleaner program download it directly from Piriform at do not download from other sites. This is a freeware program unless you want more bells and whistles. STEP 1: The first thing you will need to do is once again uninstall everything, Avid Content, Avid Plug-ins, and Avid Studio. STEP 2: In Windows 10 open the search bar and type in regedit and open it.

Do the following to remove references to AVID from the registry. Make a backup of the registry first in case you change something unintentional so you can recover. To do that click on FILE in the upper left corner, click export, name the export, something like registrybackupDATE works for me and save in documents folder On the left panel of REGEDIT notice the HKEY folders, now navigate to HKEYCURRENTUSER click on Software find Avid delete the Avid folder minimize the HKEYCURRENTUSER folder Find HKEYLOCALMACHINE and navigate to click on Software click on Wow6432node find Avid Delete the Avid folder Exit REGEDIT STEP 3: Open CCleaner and from the left hand side of the menu panel click on the registry icon. On the bottom left click 'scan for issues' button. Follow the prompts after the scan, make a backup of the registry, and select fix all problems. Exit CCleaner Reboot your system STEP 4: Now you are ready to install Avid but DO NOT OPEN THE PROGRAM AFTER INSTALLATION.

Now, install the Avid program, plug-ins, and bonus content that you have validation keys for. STEP 5: In Windows 10 open the search bar and type in regedit and open it again. Navigate to HKEYLocalMachine click on software click on Wow6432node click on Avid click on Studio 1 In the right panel you will see Key entries, if VersionNT is not listed, right click within the right panel and select new string value, name the string value VersionNT. Right click on VersionNT and select modify, Under Value Data enter 601 Exit REGEDIT Reboot You are finished Once your system has stabilized you should be able to open AVID Studio. If your version of AVID is not 1.1 you will need to run the patch still available from Corel. I hope you have success with this.

I found this solution on the Microsoft Community which referenced Pinnacle Studio 16 and modified it for AVID Studio. It was not until I edited the registry removing the AVID folders and keys that I had success.

The uninstall process leaves these folders behind for some reason. Special thanks to YOBECO from his post of Jan 15, 2014 on the Microsoft Community site. If you have Pinnacle 16 go to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows81-winapps/pinnacle-studio-16-wont-load/fb350298-7de6-4499-a31e-64ee291d457e?auth=1. Hi Ssssssh Just recently I upgraded from Win 7 to 10 and have this same problem with my Avid Studio V1.1.0.2887 I am using an x86 HP computer running a Radeon graphics card and would appreciate it if you could confirm your fix will work for me. I am not a proficient computer maintenance person and although I am confident I could follow your instructions outlined above, it will be troublesome for me and I would be grateful if you could confirm to me that I would not wasting my time. Cheers, Warren.

Well, I eventually took the bull by the horns and 'had a go' at the very explicit instructions Avid Forum Member, 'Shhh.' Had left on this thread. I am happy to say it worked well for me and I thank 'Shhh. ' most profusely. The instructions, while they appear to be very comprehensive and even complicated are easy to follow (and in retrospect have a failsafe mechanism/saved register file process built in which I did not need). The only additional problem I encountered (and that which was raised by Shhh.

At the end of his/her post) was that I while started out with Avid Studio 1.1 I ended up at the end of the process with the unpatched 1.0 version that I had originally purchased. This was easily fixed at the end of the process by downloading the patch from Corel (available here/I clicked on the 'Windows 7' one as there is not one for Windows 10: ) which when applied, upgraded me to the 1.1 version I had when I uninstalled the program. All good and very happy. There was one quick 'pop up' window referring to the ubiquitus missing Microsoft Update KB981266 mentioned elsewhere but I just over-rode that and proceeded with the process Shhh.

Pinnacle

Had documented. I was a bit worried as while I had the discs for scorefitter 1 & 2 I had purchased 3 elsewhere and took a chance on retaining it in the computer AND it stayed for me. That was a real bonus as it contains the scores that I mostly use. In summery, all happy. Back to Ver.1.1 and on Windows 10 and everything working (until Windows 10 throws something else at me I guess) Thank you everyone for your help:).

Warren and Hotbear1537 I was pleased to learn both of you were able to regain use of your Avid Studio editor. AdrewAction is correct in stating I do not own any CURRENT Avid products but I do have a legal copy of Avid Studio that I purchased and registered with Avid before Avid sold off studio to Corel.

I currently own Pinnacle 19 and it is OK but I occasionaly have to rely on Avid Studio to perform editing tasks that Pinnacle 19 fails at, such as speed adjustment or reverse play and others. The reason I did not reply to Warren's initial inquiry is that the forum failed to notify me of his posts.

It was not until today 2016 09 28 that I received a notification from the Avid community bearing Hotbear1537 reply. My installation of Avid Studio continues to work on Windows 10 64 bit and has survided the updates Microsoft releases as of this date. For those of your who have read this far, you can try the Pinnacle forums for information on Avid Studio but as time moves on the user base becomes smaller.

You could also try the D'eclic Vid'eo forum. There are English and French links. This is the english link. You can also contact me but I am no computer expert and only do home videos. Like Warren I took the bull by the horns and found a way. Cut, that's a wrap!

Now that I've purchased a brand new PC, a lot of the software that I'm familiar with and use almost daily, is not compatible with Vista64. Examples of software I use, but can NO LONGER use (causes major errors and forces me to recover the PC's factory settings and software) are: Pinnacle Studio QuickStart, Instant DVD Recorder, Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced CD/DVD copying software, Roxio Easy CD Creator 10, and a few others. One hardware device I use often is my Dazzle170. I transfer VCR tapes to DVD. This device requires Pinnacle Quick Start or Instant DVD Recorder (also from Pinnacle).

I've posted messages and sent e-mails requesting advice, drivers, etc., for Vista(64 bit), but none are available. Does anyone have any suggestions? This is hardware and software I use all the time! (well, not since receiving my new PC and discovering - the HARD way - that none of it works with Vista(64). I'd appreciate any advice, suggestions, links, recommendations, etc.

It is correct with apparently no resolve for it, as I went to 64bit Vista also with the same results. Hardware for me was no problem. Software however, I lost at least a half a dozen or so programs that would not function, even if I went to compatibility mode. They just do not even load in 64 bit vista coming up with a blurb that they can not run in the operating system environment. As I stated there appears to be no resolve for this, unless you wait for a 64 bit version. Which is something that you might have a long time to wait for. For instance, I asked Roboform if there was a chance that a 64 bit version was forthcoming.

The answer from them was while it will operate in 32bit mode, a 64bit version is not planned anytime soon. Which is why I am saying that there does not seem to be any resolve for this problems anytime soon. Another one for me is Ashampoo software utilities, which support from Ashampoo says it's coming but, it will not be for wweeks or months before 64 bit versions appear. I hope thiis will offer you some insight into what we both face but, it surely does not offer any immediate solution to the problem.
